Boston, MA (August 19, 2011) – Arthur Murray Dance Studio Manager, Kia Kenney, and New Student Coordinator, Kristen Belcher announced today that their students and instructors have embarked on a dancing challenge to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).  It takes 6 Million steps to walk across America.  The studio has set a goal of reaching 6 Million steps and raising $10,000 by Labor Day weekend, just in time for the iconic MDA telethon.  Arthur Murray is using MamboWalk, an online walking game developed by Mambo Health Gaming to administer the event.

Arthur Murray students and instructors are tracking their dance steps using pedometers.  Their sponsors will donate for every 5000 steps logged.  To makes things even more interesting, students are separated into two teams racing against each other.  

“We are excited to use dancing as a method to raise funds for such an important cause.  We know that our students love to dance and many of them dance as a part of their fitness goals.  This event gives them motivation to stick to their fitness goals and provide funds to a charity.” said Belcher.  “In my first day, I logged 5000 steps in just the first couple of hours of teaching lessons.  Amazing!”
